That Smile!
Absolutely adored photographing this teen girl. She glowed with energy and radiance, and without doubt has the cutest of winning smiles. I loved her enthusiasm, and her spirit never wavered all afternoon long as we chased some pretty light and tried out a few different locations. We chatted about this and that, capture some great looks, and soon it was time for her soccer practice and back to a busy teen day.
The longer lighter spring days and warmer weather are perfect for making the most of beautiful natural light. And, finding fun locations that appeal to a teen help to keep the photos fresh, natural and vibrant.
Spring is a great time for photographing outside. Blossoms and buds are flowering, leaves are opening up and filling out trees and bushes, and everything looks alive.

So natural, so lovely
I loved chatting and getting to know this gorgeous couple. They are so ready for adventure and a great life together. It was fun hearing about their plans and what’s around the corner for them. A pond and some nearby trees gave us a pretty winter setting to take these casual photos and let their natural good looks shine.

Togetherness
Love this bridge for these winter photographs. It’s just enough off the beaten path, making it a perfect location for this family when they were all together recently. These guys totally know how to make the most of their time together. Underneath the joking and jesting, it looks like there’s a lot of fun, love, respect, support and tolerance for each other. The best kind of family.
You can never have too many family photos! And, perhaps that’s especially true for families in transition with kids at home, kids at college and kids out in the “real world.” Those moments of togetherness are sometimes fleeting and so precious. College schedules, job demands and new pursuits will always need our attention, so celebrating togetherness whenever you have the chance just makes sense.

Teens are the best!
Kudos to these three teens ~ it might have been more than a wee bit on the chilly side when we took these pics but they kept smiling till the very last shot. I loved photographing them – the sibling bond and love is so strong but each of them is their very own distinct personality and so fun to chat with. After we played with some different ideas, it wasn’t too hard to get grandma to join in the fun and we even twisted mom & dad’s arms to be in a few too.
Love this front door and porch. It was perfect for some fun informal photos when time was of the essence. And, helping clients get what they need when they need it is always a good feeling.

Festive fun family
We had so much fun photographing these! This family totally knows how to kick back and celebrate their togetherness. We started with some more traditional shots and then got down to business with some really high energy festive holiday PJs to let their hair down and allow their true personalities to shine.
Did you see how adorable their “coton” dog is? He almost stole the show, didn’t he? Life doesn’t get much better than this for a dog — there’s so much love for him — and he is the best at looking after his humans!
I loved celebrating your family with this holiday session. And I loved seeing how much fun you have no matter what you’re doing. Thank you festive fun family.

Rocking the red!
I loved capturing my friends’ daughters all together for the holidays and all grown up. And I love the pops of holiday red. Their casual yet coordinated outfits are perfect the festive season! Even Liberty – their most loyal, sweet labrador – is front and center of the “J.Crew/American Eagle” look with his holiday red collar.

Celebrating Family
I loved photographing this super cute family a few weeks ago to kick off the holiday season. The warm rich tones of the late Autumn in a nearby park was the perfect setting for their choice of earthy fall clothing. Some beautiful soft afternoon sunlight kept the mood fun and relaxed to the end. And what better way to finish family photos than tossing up some leaves before heading off for ice-cream!

~ Autumn Vibes ~
Love those leaves! And, love this look!
Mid November and it sure is full-on fall! A nearby neighborhood park gave us a great Autumn vibes background and location filled with turning yellow golden leaves. I always try to look for places and sites that are local and close whenever possible to help keep things as calm and stress free as possible for clients. After all, when so much of life is crazy busy that’s one less thing to worry about. Always a win-win!
I had so much fun chatting with this one when we took some time to do photos in the afternoon recently. She’s one very natural beauty and has such a sweet, fun-loving way about her that was a blast to capture. Ahhh, to be sweet sixteen!

It’s hard to beat the golden hour!
Looking for the best time to schedule your photographs this fall? If you have the flexibility, go for the golden hour. You won’t regret it. The golden hour is that time – for an hour or so – when day gently transitions into night. As long as there are no clouds on the horizon, when the sun gets lower in the sky there is a significant increase of soft glowing light to embrace your subject. The result in your photos? Warmer tones with little or no squinting.👍😀👍
We both love the urban feel of the receding road. And a nearby green fence came in handy for a strong neutral background and setting. Making the most of whatever is local, close and stress free, makes for happy relaxed photos. Always a win-win in my book.

From Strength to Strength
It was so fun photographing this emerging Virginia metal artist in her home just recently. Her welded metal sculptures are stunning IMO! Delicate yet weighty. Intricate yet aesthetically simple. Imposing yet intriguingly organic.
I loved having the opportunity to show AnaMarie’s inner strength, poise and confidence alongside her work as well as relaxed in her home!
It’s no surprise that her metal work is getting increasing national prominence within the art world and is set to be featured in American Art Collector magazine in early 2017.
